Onondaga County is accepting nominations for MLK Community Service Award

Onondaga County is accepting nominations for its 2025 Martin Luther King Jr. Community Service Award from now until Dec. 20.
The award honors local residents who show strong leadership skills, a commitment to volunteering and have made strong contributions to human rights and social justice in the area.
While the award has existed for at least five years, it was previously only open to county employees. This will be the first year residents can be nominated as well.
“Onondaga County has a rich and storied history when it comes to the fight for civil and human rights,” County Executive Ryan McMahon said in a news release. “While progress has been made, there is still much more to do. Our community is fortunate to have so many leaders in this effort working to make that progress each and every day.”
Nominees must be residents of Onondaga County.
Nominations can be made by sending the name of your nominee, along with their contact information and any relevant background information about them, to Chief Diversity Officer Monica Williams. Include three to five sentences on why you’re choosing to nominate them. Williams can be reached at [email protected].
Nominations are accepted until 4 p.m. on Dec. 20.
